Breast lift can help lifting the breasts to be perkier, firmer and more youthful-looking. Breast lift procedure can also be combined with breast augmentation to add additional fullness to the breasts.

You should wait until you stop planning to have children or until you have reached your goal weight (if you are in a weight loss program) since these factors can negate the result of breast lift surgery.

What happen before and during the surgery?

The surgeon will find out suitable techniques for you (lollipop, donut and anchor lifts) depending on severity of the sagging. The surgery should take around 1 and a half to 3 hours but can take longer if with implants. Surgeons will then take out excess tissue and skin, lifting and sculpting them into satisfying, firmer, youthful shapes.

Nipples will be repositioned to be in higher level and the breasts size may go down slightly.

Patients will be under general anesthesia throughout the operation and will have to stay in the hospital for 2 nights.

See video to find out what exactly is breast lift.

How long is the recovery?

After a week, stitches will be removed and you can resume to normal life (depending on the nature of your work as well). Discomfort, bruises, numbness and swelling will be visible a few days and eventually subside over 6 weeks after the surgery.

You should avoid any strenuous activities including sex, exercise and heavy lifting for a month to 6 weeks. The result is long-lasting but can possibly change again if you have more babies, lose a lot of weight or by natural aging process.

What to do after the surgery?

Right after the surgery, you are required to wear a compression garment over gauze dressing and afterwards, wearing a sport bra for support is indispensable for at least 3-4 weeks.

You should keep the incision clean and dry and avoid bathing or swimming since it may cause infection if the wound is in direct contact with water for too long.

Breast Lift (Mastopexy)

Breasts have always been an identification of femininity and youth but their shape and volume eventually change as we age, have babies or experience massive weight loss.

Pregnancy and breastfeeding stretches out the skin, takes away voluminous contour whereas massive weight loss causes droopy breasts due to tissue loss.

They should have realistic expectation towards the surgery and are emotionally stable.

Heavy smokers and drinkers are not recommended to undergo the surgery unless they stop at least 2-3 weeks before the surgery.
